Aaron O'Brien, Member Florida Bar Traffic Rules Committee

Traffic Tickets

It happens to even the best of drivers.  If you have been cited for traffic violation you generally have 3 options:

- Pay it and accept the points on your license

- Pay the fine and elect traffic school if eligible - this will keep points from being assessed

- Set the matter for hearing

If you choose to request a hearing PLEASE be aware that the clerk of court regularly sends something for you to sign WITH THE GUILTY BOX ALREADY CHECKED FOR YOU!

If you do not wish to plead guilty, be sure to uncheck or correct the document before you return it.

It's always a good idea to consult with Aaron O'Brien or another experienced Florida Traffic Ticket lawyer to weigh your options.  In most cases, Aaron O’Brien can appear on behalf in court.

What is Traffic School? – The purpose of traffic school is to eliminate points from your driver’s license.  You can only elect traffic school once every 12 months and only 5 times in your lifetime.  The basic traffic school is 4 hours long and can be done in person or online.  The cost of traffic school varies from provider to provider, so you should shop around.  Our office can provide further information of traffic school providers in area.  If you have a CDL, you must obtain court permission to make the traffic school election.  An attorney can assist you with this process.
